Club Sunday (Sunday School) - Susan Noon

Club Sunday is for children and is what some people used to call Sunday School. Its aims are to tell children about God’s love for them, and to try and bring them into a personal relationship with Jesus.

What is Club Sunday and what are its Aims?
Club Sunday is for children and is what some people used to call Sunday School. Its aims are to tell children about God’s love for them, and to try and bring them into a personal relationship with Jesus.

How does it work?
All the children go into the normal adult Church Service on a Sunday morning with their parents, or a responsible adult, and join in the service. They leave the adult service after about 15 minutes (following the collection) and go into their own different classes, as follows:

Bubbles
(Beginners)
3 to 4 years old approximately

Splash
(Primary)
5 to 7 years old approximately

Xstream
(Juniors)
8 to 11 years old approximately

Hot Coals
(Young People)
12 to 16 years old approximately

After the service their parents or the responsible adult collects them from their class.

What are the children taught in their classes?
The children are taught about Jesus and the Bible together with practical activities based on age-related lessons.

Other related information
About once a month there is a Parade Service in the church for all the Uniformed Youth Organisations and the older children remain in church throughout while the Beginners and Primary children go out to their own classes as normal.

There is a Special Club Sunday Anniversary Service once a year, in May, that normally involves participation by the children and an invited speaker.

In August there is a week-long Holiday Bible Club which takes place in the mornings at church and ends with a Special Service on the Friday evening. Children have to be registered for this club separately beforehand and pay a registration fee.

In December there is normally a Special Christmas Service followed straight away by a Christmas Lunch and Party for all the children on the premises at which Father Christmas makes an appearance.

A separate Creche is also available during the Sunday Service for young children and babies.

All Club Sunday leaders are CRB checked.
